Hello,
When I try to select multiple layers in the layers panel to merge them using the SHIFT key, SHIFT doesn't work so I can't select more than one layer at a time. Other keys are responsive and working. Shift works when making capital letters using the text tool. Any help on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!!! All the info I see online regarding shift is about the proportion change, which isn't my concern at the moment.
I'm using a cintiq 13 HD pro on an Imac running Mojave 10.14.6. I just set it up yesterday, so I don't have any previous experience on this particular set up.
Thanks!

Hi, by chance you checked in the Wacom settings if the keys were set correctly for each software? Have you checked if there are any updates?

Hello, do you activate the shift key via a button on your cintiq/pen?

Hi,
Yeah I've realized the issue is only with my cintiq pen and my apple mouse works normally

Hi there,
That shouldn't be happening, could you please let us know the version of Photoshop you're working on? Have you checked if there are available updates for your Photoshop and Wacom device?
Did you possibly pressed the shift key for too that might have locked it?
If nothing helps, I'd recommend that you restore Photoshop app preferences to default and let us know if the issue still persists?
Please refer this article for instructions on how to restore Photoshop preferences:

Thanks,

Hi, thank you for your reply. It's only happening with the wacom pen. Everything works normal when I use a mouse, so I thiink it might be a problem with the pen settings, but its function is normal click and the driver is up to date.

Could you please check if there is any available update for your Wacom pen drivers and see if that helps?

Hello, is the shift key on the keyboard, or it mapped to one of the buttons of the pen?
If yes, could you post the Wacom configuration panel for the pen?

Has this been solved? I just upgraded to Mojave 14 and then updated all Wacom drivers for a CTE-480. I even removed ALL traces of Wacom installs, prefs, in the system and personal library and reinstalled. I then stepped backwards in the update by 1 version. I had updated to the latest CC versions of PSD and AI and now I cannot select multiple items, layers or anything holding the shift down in Illustrator or Photoshop. I can use my mouse and I can use my finger on the Wacom Pen&touch but not if I use the pen to select the items. The option key is not working either, it defaults to the selection tool but will not duplicate.
I use the pen for intricate multiple line drawings and it's a pain to stop, holster the pen then use finger or grab the mouse and select then go back to the pen for drawing. Not efficient. Thank you

Hi, I think I have found a semi-solution: I have installed English keyboard, just to use it with PS and it helped. With my native, Polish keyboard it still doesn't see the SHIFT key, so I have to switch it every time. Bit annoying, but at least I can write actions

so I can't select more than one layer at a time
As a work-around you can cmd-click the Layers individually to co-select them in the meantime.

Hi there,
I have exactly the same problem. It started around a year ago. I'm using a MacBook Pro 15, Mojave 10.14.6 and Wacom Intuos Pro S. I've tried all updates over the MB and Intuos, I've done complete reset of all settings and shortcuts but it didn't at all. Still searching for the solution…

Hi! Have you managed to solve the issue? I have it now with Photoshop '24 and Sonoma 14. I tried to reinstall the drivers 5 times. It seems like the tablet disregards any key button while the pen is in use. Cannot also transform a layer with shift or cmd buttons for example. =(

I am also running into BOTH problems. Transform tool not allowing freeform transform when holding down shift and the Shift button to select multiple layers/objects. I can tell you, there is a setting un Preferences > general > click/check legacy transform option. I haven't restarted photoshop yet, but I am hoping that works. Why would Adobe make these changes?? People have been used to those short-keys for 10+ years...

Try reverting to an older Wacom driver. We had over 20 systems here that suddenly had the same problem. Reverting back to 6.4.1-1 did the trick (removing the driver via Wacom utility). Everything seems to work as before.
Very rarely this does not work the first time, reinstalling it one more time always worked. We had a few systems with this phenomenon and it seems that more people talk about this on different forums.
Hope this helps you.

I had both problems as well, Shift key and Command key not selecting multiple layers. I went to the to Wacom Center in the system prefs (mac) to see if there was and update and there was no update available. But in the Wacom Center General Settings panel I turned off Wacom Center Autostart, did a "Driver Check" and "Restart Driver". All is back to normal. Whooyah!
Note: I restarted Photoshop. I did NOT restart my computer.
Using: Mac Ventura 13.5.2 / Photoshop (Beta)
