Shortcuts for changing color

On my desktop, I can hit control, alt, and shift simultaneously and hold the left mouse button to change the brush size, and there is a short cut that's basically the same for changing color. How can I do that without mouse buttons? I made the color shortcut appear for a moment by tapping the touchpad with two fingers, but couldn't sustain it.
