Simple Image Crop

I downloaded recent Photoshop.  I wanted to crop an image to 8"x10" but the crop looks square to me.  It didn't on my old Photoshop. I know 8"x10" is not square, what gives??  How do I get it into correct shape.  I clicked on 4x5 {8x10} size but it is square!   Thanks

    I just want to crop to an 8"x10" size.  Maybe I should just put it on my jump drive & go to my Photoshop 4 and crop it there. Would be quicker

    There are a few things this could be but without a screenshot we could end up leading you down a blind alley. Please show two, full screen, screenshots including the options bar and layers panel. The first with the crop tool in place just before your confirm the crop and the second immediately afterwards.

    Hi Dixie,

    A second way to crop is to use the Marquee tool. Set the Style to Fixed Size and type 10 in and 8 in. After you drag you marquee, choose Image > Crop and be sure to change the Style back to Normal.

    Try clear.

    I have been using Photoshop for a long time, and the new crop presets makes me feel like an amateur.

    Should you still need help, please post a screenshot of your entire options bar at top and your image.

    I tried clear.  typed in numbers, still came out square.  I don't know how to take a screen shot & post.

    Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?

    there are no layers in my picture, I don't know layers.
