Since PS 24 update Canon Print Studio Pro not working

Since the release of PS 24 I can no longer print via my Canon Print Studio Pro plug-in. I can only assume it was something to do with the update. Has anyone else experienced this or know any work arounds.

If this is an issue that I won't see a fix anytime soon is there another print plug-in that others would suggest? I   rely heavily on this throughout the spring and summer season. Thanks!

I just spoke to Canon tech USA (3/13/2023) The tech explained that the current version of PSP needs to be updated for compatibility with PS 24.2.0. No release date was available.

Yes - the solution from Kevin (below) seems to work for Photoshop 2024 Version 25. In my case it kept telling me that the plugin was already installed so the installation would be cancelled. Despite this, PSP would not appear  so I  copied the PPL folder from an older version of Photoshop then pasted it into the latest 'Plug Ins folder'.

Thereafter just copied PSP instalation from Canon Utilities folder and dragged it into the plug ins/ PPL folder. After re starrting photoshop it works fine so many thanks to Kevin Stolmeyer for his easy solution to resolve this issue.

Just go into your existing photoshop 23 folder and drag PPL folder into the photoshop 24 plug ins folder. It works as I had the same issue

Update: I happened on a solution to my problem. I right clicked on the Photoshop App and went to "get info".

I checked the Open Using Rosetta box and Print Studio Pro was up and running again. I applied this method to the recent 2024 update and it worked again.

I can't do this. Are you PC? I have Imac OS ventura 13 (just upgraded)...I have been struggling to get my Canon Print studio pro (which was just fine on my PS 23) into PS24, which was  also just upgraded recently. My PSP reads Print Studio Pro alias. What does this mean??

I just went from Photoshop 23 (where Canon Print Studio Pro worked just fine) to PS24, and Print Studio Pro NOT in my files. It is now listed as "Print Studio Pro alias" on my desk top. HOw can I get this Plug in back where it was? Do I have to go back to PS23?

The Canon installer is putting files in the wrong  place on Mac OS.

The correct placement is Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2023/Plugins/PPL

The installer is placing them in Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2023/Plugins/Generator/PPL

Move the plugins to the correct folder and it will work.

I've tried the same thing and it's still not working. I have spoken with Canon support and nothing has worked.

Did you restart your computer after moving the files?

My PSP had stopped working back in 2020, and never worked again. "Error, PSP is now closing". So I just printed from Lightroom. Now since the latest updates to everything, PS, LR, and my mac system, not even LR will print. This is lunacy.

Can you print with any non-Adobe applications like Apple Preview?

Yes I can print as long as I don't try to use PSP.

I realise you were asking about others' experience and seeking an alternative - but, if you want the Canon plug-in to work, Digitaldog is right, you'll want to take this up with Canon Support as it's their software.

Given that software compatibility issue, can't you just use the printer driver software that Canon supply?

What features does the plug in have that you're missing when printing directly from Photoshop?

Thank you Neil for the reply. I've been a bit busy as of late. I plan on getting in touch with Canon directly, but they make one have to do the work to get to email support. I create art reproductions of my artwork and I have to create stock ongoing during my show season. I had settings to my liking through Print Shop Pro and wanted to keep with that for ease of reprints.

Per Photoshop it isnt consistent and requires extra time setting up the files to print how I want them. I hope that makes sense and there is probably some easy fix to it but it's above my ability. I am looking for a plugin geared toward making reproductions of my work.

You must contact Canon, all plugins have to be properly written and updated, no matter what may change from version to version of Photoshop. Adobe supplies a plugin SDK and prerelease versions to plugin developers, so at this point, the burden is on Canon.

And yes, I'm a plugin developer.
