Size issues when importing Illustrator layers into Photoshop using new Interoperability

Is anyone having issues with importing layers from Illustrator into Photoshop using the new interoperability feature? When I copy and paste layers, they're being placed in Photoshop at roughly 4x the size, and not aligned in the composition at all.

 

In Illustrator, I've set up a test file so I could replicate the issue:

1000x1000 px.

300 ppi.

 

In Photoshop, I've used the same image size and resolution.

 

I created a red square in the middle of the Illustrator file, and when I paste it into Photoshop, the sizing issue can be seen.

 

Of course, it's not that tough to realign a rectangle to a 1000px square composition, but the actual project I'm working on would prove to be quite a pain to realign and resize all of the strokes for. 

 

Am I missing something? Thanks to anyone that can help!

Illustrator is a vector application, so for the most part, pixels per inch does not apply. The ppi dialog is in Effect menu > Document Raster Effects Settings and is only for effects that generate pixels, such as drop shadows and Gaussian blur.

If you need to resize:

  • Scale in PS
  • Look at the percentage in the options bar
  • Undo, then Cancel
  • Scale in AI and copy/paste again

 

One thing to try when trying to position artwork is one of these two. 

In Illustrator:

  • Draw a large invisible rectangle that is the same size as the artboard 
    or
  • Draw a small square in the upper left (confirm 0,0 for the upper left corner)
  • Copy

In Photoshop:

  • Paste
  • Delete the rectangle if needed

      Your welcome, @Uljingo . I noticed I forgot the step to say "use the invisible rectangle to align the artwork", but maybe that was understood.
