Small PSD suddenly too large and needs to be saved as a PSB?

I am using Photoshop v 22.4.3 on a 2019 iMac 3.7 GHz, 64 GB.

I have a simple psd with 7 layers.
2627 x 1422 px
Image size 10.7 MB (according to Image Size.. see attached)

For some reason this file will not save as a PSD.  A window pops up claiming that the file is over 2 GB and needs to be saved as a PSB file.  What could be causing this?

I've had similar trouble using 'SAVE AS' after working with an established PSD.  I usually 'SAVE AS' a jpeg if I want to send a sample sketch to a client but recently I've needed to choose SAVE A COPY because the option to SAVE AS a jpeg isnt available.

I appreciate any help.  If you need any further info to help me sort this out please let me know.

Then the Layer probably violates a pixel-limitation – I think it used to be 30.000, not sure if that still applies.

One work-around would be

• Select > All

• Layer > Layer Mask > Reveal Selection

• Layer > Smart Objects > Convert to Smart Object

Then the image sould be save-able as psd. (Because the »offending« pixels are hidden within a psb within the psd.)

Unfortunately, I posed two questions in this post.  So the question about SAVE AS options was solved but the question about a small psd needing to be saved as a PSB was not.

I have narrowed down the source of the issue.  I used the shape tool to create a multi-spoked wheel to use as a perspective grid. The wheel was enlarged beyond the scope of the page.  I tried rasterizing those layers but still had issues saving a psd.  HOwever, when I removed those layers from the file it would save with no problems.  So must be something to do with a large shape layer?  I'm not sure.

For the save as jpeg option, take a look here

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/saving-images.html

If you want to revert the way the save as works, scroll down to this bit "Enable legacy Save As"

I guess this was a recent feature update I missed.  Thank-you for the help.

»recently I've needed to choose SAVE A COPY because the option to SAVE AS a jpeg isnt available.«

Have you tried Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling > Enable legacy »Save As«?

Thank-you!  Sounds like that may have been a feature in a recent update?  Thank-you for the fix.

Just wanted to add that I did save the file as a PSB and the file size is only 36 MB.
