Hello everyone,

since a short time (i guess since version 2017.0.1) i've regularly experienced an issue where SmartObjects contents are not longer visible while the blend modes are inactive.

Any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks!

SmartObjects contents are not longer visible while the blend modes are inactive.

What is that supposed to mean? (Edit: In particular I do not understand how a Layer’s blend mode is supposed to be able to be »inactive«.)

Could you please post screenshots taken at View > 100% and with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible to illustrate?

By inactive i mean i am not able to switch it from normal to multiply e.g. It looks like this just with a layer selected:

I am not able to reproduce it right now.

Please post screenshots on this Forum directly in the future.

The only case that comes to my mind for a selected Layer’s Blend Mode being grayed out in the Layers Panel is if the Layer is locked.

As for Layers not being displayed at all does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Hej,

thanks for your suggestion. The layer is not locked but the processor as a reason sounds quite legit (and i slightly remember turning on "Use Graphics Processor" recently)

I will give it a try and will come back to you.

Thanks a lot!

As well you should, some features would not work otherwise or work less fast.

But if it makes a difference there may be an issue with the GPU driver – unfortunately it would both be possible that an update or a roll-back would alleviate the issue.

Of course, main goal right now is just to find where the issue comes from. As for now I've got a handable workaround, but as we've multiple people affected I want to locate the source before i initiate a rollback.

It really hard to reproduce, if i could i would know where the issue comes from Just look at this screenshot and imagine the "square" layer is selected in the layer-panel and got 100% visibility while it is NOT visible on the stage and i am NOT able to switch blend mode. Sorry it is hard to explain.
