Smart Objects don't update when working with cloud documents

I'm often working with cloud documents, when I do and use smart objects. These smart objects seem to rarely update, sometimes they do, sometimes they do and I don't know the rule for when they do and when they do.

    Hi!

    When you say latest CC -- is that 23.4.1? What do you define as latest OSX, and are you on an M1 Machine running in Rosetta? Thiese bits of info can be really helpful to figure out what's going on.

      Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible from a situation where the instances of a cloud-Smart Object don’t update after a change? 

      Are the images that have instances of the Cloud-object open when you save it?
