smart objects get replaced with new ones
It has happened several times recently that a smart object I am working on becomes unlinked and I find that a new one has been created in its place. This is with smart objects created from a layer, not placed from the outside. I will be working on a smart object (PSB file) and watching the changes appear in the parent PSD file as I save them in the PSD smart object, and then suddenly a change won't appear. Then if I click on the smart object icon in the Layers palette I see a new PSB file, identical to my already open one but without the most recent changes. The new one has a name one digit higher than the old one.
This isn't a huge problem, in that I can copy those changes from the older to the newer PSB file, but I really want to know what is going on-- am I accidentally pressing some key combination and doing this, or is it a bug? My HD is pretty full; could that have something to do with it? I'm also wondering how many of my PSD files contain stray extra duplicated unlinked PSB files in them, using up my storage.
