Hey, can anyone help?
If I have a file with smart objects in, and then convert profile (SWOP to Fogra for example), the image can move or even scale once the conversion is complete. Rasterizing the object fixes it but negates the purpose.
Any insight?
The way I can reproduce this is by moving the SO after Liquifying and before the conversion.
So I suspect you (or someone else) moved the SO after applying the Filter Liquify.
In which case the whole issue is moot and you should trash the existing Liquify and do it anew at this position.

Try to enter inside the smart object content by Double click the smart object and see what happened in it .

It's a flat image in a PSB, but the smart object has a liquify on it. When the conversion happens, the effect of the liquify is undone although remains on the layer.

Hello! Undone? you mean the liquefy mesh is not applied? no way to reapply it?
Does it happen on all conversions? RGB_RGB or Only CYMK-CYMK? or RGB_CYMK?

I suspect you may have applied Liquify to the SO and then either moved the SO or changed the containing image’s dimensions (thus rendering the Liquify Mesh’s references nonsensical) – can you rule that out?

I've not altered the document size at all, but otherwise you're right. Check out the video below:

I can’t make out if Liquify is still applied as a Smart Filter.
Please post a screenshot with the Layers Panel visible.
In any case:
Should you have applied Liquify and then moved the Layer you would have effectively destroyed the Filter’s frame of reference.
The next time the SO instance gets recalculated (either opening and saving the OS or making certain changes to the containing document) the Filter would be recalculated, too, but this time with the expectedly nonsensical results.
At least that is my »most likely explanation« for the situation.

The liquify is on the SO yes, and inside the SO is a simple image on a single layer with no other effects at all.
The page size is not altering - as per the video, I'm only changing the colour profile.

That's the one I think! Give that man a cigar!
Now for an extra smoke, any idea how to copy a complex liquify and reapply once I've moved the object?

Sorry, no.
Converting the SO so an SO before moving it might work – but better test whether the Liquify in the SO updates correctly on changes.

Yep - that worked. Stacking SOs is a pet hate but in this case makes sense.
Thanks loads!

It certainly makes working more convoluted …
Alternatively you could try using Puppet Warp instead of Liquify for less sensitive re-shaping tasks, I think that should be affected less by moving the SO.

It's the same - no changes inside at all 😕

Hi....... which version of Photoshop are you using? Out of interest, is it happening with the latest release?
