Hi,

I apprecate this is basic photoshop, but my brain is failing to do it. Having trouble trying to do the following. I would like to be able to drop an image (correct aspect) onto a blank A4/A3/A4 background, that snaps to the background and leaves a fixed sized border everytime I do it. I have tried to do this but it seems to be getting more complicated everytime I try, I am sure I had an action for this but can't find it. Anyway hope someone can help. Thank you

The frame tool can help you (with the resize during place option set in the Photoshop settings). The only condition is that the image you are dragging must be equal to or larger than the size of the frame.

Hi @gmacamera one idea is to have guides setup and a layer with your white border created with a "hole" in the middle. Drop your image below that and you'll always have a consistent border.
