I was clicking and dragging with the Type tool- that causes guides not to appear, I didn't know there was a dedicated move tool.

When I used it, the guides popped up just fine. Thanks for your help!

Yep, both have been enabled, nothing is appearing.

Not really that much to show. When I try to move the text, no pink lines or guidelines appear to tell me what I'm snapping to.
