Soft brushes gone hard

I migrated all my brushes from Photoshop 6 to CC. All of my soft brushes now have hard edges. They even show up in the brush picker panel with hard edges. I need my soft edges back.

Can you not change it to 0%?  See this picture:

that happesn when we use the Pencil Tool accidentally where the hardness will stay Hard on 0 - 100.

make sure that you are using the Brush Tool NOT the Pencil Tool

I won't say that I _never_ use the pencil, but it is very rare. So it is no hard ship removing the B shortcut from the Pencil tool so you don't accidentally select it.  In fact I only have the shortcut turned on for the Brush tool because it is faster for me to know the B shortcut gets me the Brush, and that I have to use the Toolbar to select the other brush options.
