Hi
Some great entries from last week's water-mill challenge. There was a suggestion that the perspective last week proved a little difficult so for this week there are no such issues.
For obvious reasons (my tripod does extend that far), I've not used one of my own images this week. The image below comes courtesy of NASA's image gallery, which is well worth a browse. The challenge is simple - use this picture creatively in a new image.
Anything goes as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc.
Anyone is welcome to have a go - whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert.
There are no prizes - just the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun.
When posting back your edited images please use jpeg and downsize to 1200px on the long side.
To download the image below without the forum scaling artifacts, right click and then use Save Image As / Save Picture As (or similar depending on your browser).

Have fun
Dave

That is so good Dave, even the thin hairs moves. As a guy you won't know this, but women rarely get static charges on their hair these days because we have hair dryers with a feature called 'ionic' . When drying your hair positive charges are mixed with the flowing air which neutralise the negative charge on the hair brought about by towel drying. It really does work, I notice it if I travel and use a dryer without ionic and then turn into the 'Terri Bear'. Ionic does double the price of the hand held dryer but you can get Mrs Dave one for less than £30

Cheers Terri. I used to have hair - don't know what happened. With a wife and teenage daughter in the house, I thought I'd heard it all, but ionic hairdryers are a new one on me ![]()
Now to spend that money I saved on Eye Candy, it's beer and curry night tomorrow ...........................!!

I'm envious.
I actually got a pizza out of the freezer for my tea yesterday, before I remembered that we don't have an oven any more.
Well, to be pedantic, we have two ovens, but ones in the garden after being ripped out, and the other is boxed up in the garage. They just aren't in a position to heat up pizza. The dust you can see is _everywhere_ and there's more to come as Paul the builder (him on the right) will be removing the old floor tiles from the new laundry area on Monday, with his Kango jackhammer thingie. It vibrates right through the house and creates thick clouds of dust. I've [1] had no lights in this area for several days now (note the LED video lights) but it doesn't matter now that there is absolutely no reason to use the room.
[1] I've moved to a singular 'I' as opposed to 'we' as Chris is in a totally dust free UK having gone early and left me to the renovations. I am so looking forward to getting away from all this myself at the end of the month.

I saw the image before reading your post Trevor and I was wondering why you had a couple of video lights there. I thought you must be filming the build!

I'm under orders to take a picture every time the builders move. The kitchen is slightly tidier now with the Gib up and stopped (I'm learning all these building terms
).

This used to be a small toilet and lobby area to the back door, but is being made into a laundry room. On Monday the floor tiles are coming up which means the best of the day with the Kango shaking the house, and coating everything with an inch of dust. I am so over it already, and they have barely started.

So what have we got for next week Dave? It's Friday evening here.

New challenge is up and running now Trevor
.
As for your building work - the dust won't last forever - it will just seem that way !!

We went through all this last May, and now I've forgotten the dust and I scarcely remember the kitchen I had for over three decades. It will end, Trevor!

wow, that is simply amazing Dave. I think I'm going to print that one off. My husband really likes this picture and loves the photorealistic way you have moulded my face to the perspective. It makes a change from being a Terri rabbit
As for the Steven Spielberg of the Adobe Forums, Mr Dennis, with the enormous workstation, I think you should send Dave a cheque to buy Eye Candy.

But he'd spend it all on Newcastle Brown Ale and vindaloo.

That's beautiful Dave. Good enough to off to Adobe Stock. Especially if you made it at a decent resolution. Is this freehand illustration, or was a 3D app involved? BTW I see you had another late night.

Thanks Trevor.
Well it could have been the satellite image that "they" didn't want you to see...........
.... or it was a combination of 2D and 3D.
I made a 3D sphere in blender and used Cell Fracture to break it into pieces. Then slightly lit it from the front right to match the earth picture and mainly lit from the inside.

I could have used a different earth image to wrap as a texture around the sphere in 3D, but I'd set myself the challenge to use the original image so, in Photoshop I opened the sphere render and placed the earth image in a smart object and used the pen tool to add a vector mask in the shape of the first piece, then it was a matter of duplicating the SO moving it so the edge of each piece matched the one next to it and redrawing the vector mask to match the new piece.

The fire was the flame render filter (used three times) with a bit of masking

As for sleep - I started this image as an idea and thought "just another few minutes and it will be done".....................

I think they did go to the moon but some of the images are very iffy... I assume they had to make something to show the unwashed and confused voters

Some really wonderful, imaginative contributions here this week-the mind boggles where people get their ideas from and also how much Trevor's psychiatrist must be earning. Sorry I've not been around lately Dave, but I've been kinda busy . Anyway as a fully paid up member of the flat earth society , I thought I'd show the world as it really is.
