Something for the weekend - Part 177 - Log in!

Community Expert ,
Dec 09, 2022 Dec 09, 2022

Thanks to everyone who took part in our last park bench challenge.

Regulars will know that sometimes we start with a scene and sometimes an object. This week we have the latter, in the form of a Yule-tide log. What can you make with it?

The “rules”:

* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc

* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".

* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the image below, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right.  Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). I've given you a head start by providing it in PNG format with transparency.

When posting back your image – please use the blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Have fun

Dave

That's funny. I took this snap on a visit to Ecuador, and now Dave's log is in there somewhere…

In the US, we call it a Yule Log (or Bûche de Noël). It's a sponge cake baked in a jelly roll pan, filled, rolled up to look like a log, and frosted.

Since I had not heard of "Baumkuchen" or "tree cake", Monika, I had to look it up and was fascinated! For those who don't know, a very thin layer is broiled for about a minute, then another layer is added and broiled for a minute, and so forth. I'll have to give it a try!

If Elon raise a Go Fund Me for his Mars project, I'd gladly contribute so long as he was on the first rocket out of here.
