Something for the weekend - Part 177 - Log in!

Thanks to everyone who took part in our last park bench challenge.

Regulars will know that sometimes we start with a scene and sometimes an object. This week we have the latter, in the form of a Yule-tide log. What can you make with it?

The “rules”:

* Anything goes, as long as it meets the forum rules on decency, copyright etc

* Anyone, and everyone, is welcome to have a go, whether you are a complete beginner or a Photoshop expert. This is not just for our forum "regulars".

* There are no prizes apart from the chance to practice, show off, or bring a bit of humour and fun. Don't be shy, join in and have a go!

* The starter image is made available for you to use in this forum challenge only.

To download the image below, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right.  Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). I've given you a head start by providing it in PNG format with transparency.

When posting back your image – please use the blue reply button in this first post. If posting a comment on someone else’s entry then please use the grey reply button next to their image post.

Did you model the virus Monika?  It's an outstanding job if you did.

Thank you! I made the base objects for the virus in Illustrator and then assembled the thing in Substance Stager (it's already a couple months old and the workflow is surely not the best, but I wanted to know if it's possible).

It's such an iconic bit of artwork I felt sure I would have found it with a reverse image search.  When I found there was nothing remotely like it, I thought you must have made it yourself.  It really is a very nice job.  I was thinking I should have should show the grain in my pencil, but I was too lazy. 😞  You've raised the bar now, so we'll have try harder.

I like this Trevor!  lighting is not the same on all the pieces but the concept is way outside "normal" thinking.  Gold star!

Daneil, nice idea.  I feel a bit cheeky offering advice to a Community Expert, but Content Aware Scale does a nice job of stretching an object like the log if you use the Protect option and save a selection of the two ends of the log.  It's pretty clever as it tracks those ends even when extending a bit from both end.    I'm sure you already knew that.
