Hi,
Thanks to all who took part in our last, 'Time and Tide', challenge. We had lots of imaginative ideas and fun interpretations of Dave's photo of a North Yorkshire coastal town.
This week I'm helping Dave out, and I'm going to do something a bit different — mainly because I can't do the amazing photorealistic renders that Dave has started so many SFTW threads with. This Smörgåsbord is an image buffet, many of which I have collected in my travels, and others that I have found online.
The Rules:
To download the starter image, hover over the image and click on the circle with the arrows at the top right. Then, when the image opens in its own window, right click and choose “Save Image As/Save Target As” (or similar depending on your browser). It is important to save the image to a local drive (rather than right click and copy) in order to retain transparency.

did you enjoy the river cruise?
yes!
We did not travel with Viking on that particular trip, but the river is lovely and the excursions fun and interesting. Porto is a wonderful city. Due to how narrow and shallow the river is they do all cruising in daytime, so you get to see the beautiful countryside. We love Viking and have taken 2 Europe river cruises, 2 ocean cruises, 1 expedition cruise to all 5 Great Lakes, and a Mississippi River cruise with Viking. We're departing on the Viking Homelands cruise next week with a pre-cruise extension to Iceland. I'll spend the next week getting the camera gear cleaned and prepped and all the batteries charged 😊
Stay safe and healthy !

Wow Jill, you are a proper old hand at Viking cruises. Like you say, you have to book a good year ahead, so we are booked to do a circumnavigation cruise around Australia with a wee dogleg to Bali next year. We did our first Viking cruise from Reykjavik to NY last year, and we were blown away by it all. Especially the food, but no children and casinos is well up there.

Good old Mr. potato head

Oh, very good. You are excused for making a potato man when it is this good. I love how he stands out from the darker background> I was not sure if the nose is an organ, but Google tells me that it is, so extra marks for whistling postman's organ nose.

Thanks, Trevor! Yeah, the nose is
whatever that shape was in your first image 🙂 yeah, and I tried to make him look like he was under the light in the park. I also used one of your lamp posts on the right, but now that I look at it it should've been a little bit more to the right and raised a little bit. ha. It was fun

This was fun! Here's what I made of it, heavily inspired by Dalí 😉 I only used the elements from the starter file (plus gradients for the background and a lot of other filters in Photoshop)

That's great, Michelle! Besides the Dali, it also has a charming Magic Roundabout vibe.

Thanks Alan! I had never heard of Magic Roundabout but I see what you mean 😀

Originally French, The Magic Roundabout (with English voiceover) was a favorite on British TV in the 1960s. The stop motion animation was so well done that it was half the humor of the show. Zebedee and Dougal were celebrities! There have been several remakes/revivals, but nothing comes close to the original in my estimation.

Alan, I have just remembered that I did a Magic Roundabout image back down this thread. 🙂
Who remembers Jasper Carrot's rude version? Warning: It gets a bit NSFW

I love thge spiral clouds @Michelle Chocolita I think I took that on the waterfront in Reykjavik.
The far off apple is a wonderful touch as it gives the image so much depth and perspective. It's amazing how effective a wee touch like that can be, and all part of how our minds interpret what we see.
The drooping leaf is a good substitute for a Dali clockface.
I'm a bit worried about the horn blower. He/She/Them/They has put so much puff into popping out the brass balls, their eyeball is about to burst. I guess we should be thankful that this not a video showing the aftermath.
