Sometimes Can't Select Brush

I downloaded the Photoshop 23.5.1 update and notice that sometimes when I switch tools from another tool to the brush using the keyboard shortcut, it will switch back to the previous tool.  I'll have to manually select the brush tool with the mouse from the palette.  It doesn't do this switching to any other tool

Can you try this?
Edit - Preference - Tools - Spring loaded Tool Shortcuts Turn OFF

I haven't but I downgraded back to the previous version and it didn't do it...Once I get caught up on work, I'll try that and reply back

Try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences upon a quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

Do you still see this behavior?
