Stroke Path always greyed out

Hi,

I have been through many tutorials, but whatever I do, Stroke Path is greyed out and unavailable.

Even if I open a new doc, create a new layer and a simple path.

Any ideas?

Hi Ged,

I had to find a solution, so reset all Photoshop settings. That did the trick.

This frustrated the hell out of me. After threashing about for over an hour I accidentally double clicked the shape layer which brought up the shape style dialog box. On the left, under styles is a stroke check box. It doesn't resolve the issue but it's a solid work aorund
