Question

Stroking a selection results in a fuzzy line

This occurred suddenly. I try to stroke a selection, but instead of a solid line, I get a halo effect. A perfectly fuzzed line in the selected color. I can't find any control for this. Help! I'm under deadline for a project.

Was this with Edit > Stroke?

In which case the result would be as expected if the Selection itself had soft edges.

So the questions of how the Selection was created and what it looks like as a Channel (or in Quick Mask Mode) areimportant.

Hello, check the brush tool settings, is it a hard edged brush? Also, is your selection sharp, or soft?

Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?

And one of the Selection saved as a Channel.

With which Tool did you create the Selection and what were the settings (Feather, …) you used?

And generally I would recommend using Shape Layers with a Stroke and no Fill instead of stroking a Selection.
