Halfway through a complex path any new anchor point I try to add doesn't connect to the rest. Anyone know what to do?
Also - if anyone knows how I change settings for my paths. They are all reverse once I've made them...
Many many thanks in advance!

Hi!
What version of Photoshop are you working with?
And, can you show us a screen shot of your paths up close?
Have you checked to make sure that your paths are all connected and not separate paths?

Hi,
I have version 21.1.1 of photoshop and this is a photo of my path.

When I try to continue it by adding a point it becomes a point unconnected to the path. I don't get a new path in the column though

Are you sure you main path is selected and hasn't been deslected?

I only have one path and it is selected.

What are the other pen tool options you show selected? Is the box next to "Auto Add/Delete" checked? Can you post a screenshot of your tool bar with the pen tool selected?

OK thank you. I can't see it that well, but here is what the toolbar should look like to be able to add anchor points. Sometimes you can inadvertently uncheck or check the wrong thing (never mind how I know this haha): -edit- these are in CS6. Maybe something has changed?

Looks like we're using different tools. I use the pen tool. We seem to have the same settings though.
Thanks for your input!

Are you sure the path is selected? Your screenshot does not show any path points. Touch the end of the path with the pen tool (you will see it change to the join/add to path symbol) to continue adding points.
For your question on paths being reversed - go to the options bar and set "Combine shapes"

Do you see the Pen cursor change from a star to a little square with lines on either side?

With the pen tool selected, hold the ctrl/cmd button then click on the path. You should see the anchor points, then you can add or subtract other points. I don't see any anchor points in your screen shot, so while the path might be highlighted in the path panel, the actual path isn't selected.

Is that a MAC thing?

With Pen Tool active holding Ctrl will switch temporary to Direct Selection Tool but that is not enough, anchor point must be selected, filled with black to continue drawing from that anchor.

I am having the same exact issue. Newest version of PS. Windows 10. At times path can stop and even if control-ckick on the path (only one path) the path will become active and I click on the last anchor point laid down and that becomes active, but when I add another paoint it doesnt connect upi to the original path...it starts a new one with a gap between the two. I don't suppose you have figured out the issue yet??

I updated Photoshow this morning (3/10/2021) and all of a sudden I am having the same problem. Has anyone found a solution?

I too am having this problem. I often have to alter paths and now I can no longer add new points to a path.
Serious issue here. When I try to add to a path I only get points. Hmmmmm

Maintain a Work Path, then you should be able to work on named Paths without issues.

That worked for me. So weird. I just added a point (like automatically so that PS creates a Work Path), and I went back to my new path that I added manually, and the anchor points connected normally.
Def a bug there.
