I was wondering if I could get a hint on how to create letters similar to these:

Perhaps there's even a tutorial somewhere out there.

Hi

You could try using 3D to do something like this.

Make a text layer and warp the text into an arc (note the text is white in my example- I just have a black fill layer at the bottom so it shows up)

Next use Text - Extrude to 3D

Set the extrusion material to gold

Set the front Inflation material to brushed silver then open the front inflation material bump map and add some soft white dots for the rivets

Adjusting the bump slider will allow you to increase or decrease the depth of the rivets

Open the front inflation diffuse texture an paint on some gray brush strokes

You can also roughen the sides - change the Extrusion material to brushed silver then change the diffuse colour to a brownish yellow

Now - render it
