I have created a new path, and would like to type on it....And when I hover over it with the text cursor, it won't change to the paths text cursor (wavy line). HELP! I've restarted my Mac, checked my latest edition of Photoshop, searched through these forums high and low..And I've got nothing!

I'm currently having this same issue and nowhere is there an answer.  None of the fixes suggested in this post work either.  this is most baffling, and frustrating beyond belief.

Hello, I'd also try to reset the text tool right-click on its icon in the Option bar.

and reset the character in the character panel flyout menu.

Are you trying to add text inside an open path?

Type inside a path does not work if the path is not fully enclosed.

Otherwise try to make a new path with the pen tool and retry to apply text, please.

Text on a path should work with an open path

sabrat  - can you show us a full screen screenshot including the layers panel, paths panel and options bar when you try to add the text to the path

Have you tryed with a new path? Maybe the old one has already associated with some text (like a space character or similar) and you cannot type another text on it

When your Type tool is not near the path, is there a dotted rectangle around it? If not, confirm that you are not on an existing Type layer. Go to Layer > Deselect Layers.

Also check the type size in your options panel.

Did you try a.) zooming in, and b.) resetting preferences?

Yes. Neither of those worked.
