Text size is too small on photoshop

I am using Photoshop for macbook and when i try to increase the size of my text it still comes out very small. Fr example my text is at 72 pt and i can barely see it. How do i fix this problem?

In addition to Ged's questions, what is your zoom level? Confirm that you are zoomed to 100%.

 

Also try changing the type size to 200pts to start, then pull back. Use the options bar or character panel, not Free Transform.
