The text tool is not crazy. You have  white colored text on a white background.

Also be sure your text is large enought to be visible - but right color is key point!
Be aware using White Texts on white bachkround

Hi

In addition to having white text, you have three Type layers. Delete the ones you are not using so they won’t cause you trouble later.
