Text tool not working

As soon as I click on the text took, the transform tool appears on top.  I type but I see no text on the document.  I click on the transform check mark and the text appears in the layer panel.

What is going on.  I did a reset and it did not help.

Please help I need to type.

Can you post a screenshot of the problem, including your layers and tool panel and options bar...

    Hi

    Reset the Type tool by right clicking it in the options bar (not Tools panel) and choosing Reset Tool. Then switch to the Default swatches of Black and White by typing "D" and try again. Let us know if this works.
