My text tool won't work at all, there's an error that says something prevented the text engine from being initialized.
Troubleshoot fonts | Photoshop CC 2014, CC, CS6, CS5
I have already tried using the methods from that link, deleting the photoshop cs6 font cache, turned off font preview, reinstalled photoshop cs6 but nothing works.
I really do need help with this problem,I think it might be a damaged or corrupted font but I'm not sure how to find corrupted fonts.
Hi ay,
Please go to the Preferences of Photoshop and then go to the Type Tab.
In there please change the Text Engine from East Asian to Middle Eastern.
Restart Photoshop and then see if it works.
Regards,
Tanuj

What to do if this method does NOT help?
My Photoshop CS6 kept on freezing, so I first uninstalled it and then re-installed it from my disc. Then I ran updates from the PS window. Now none of my photographs containing text want to open in PS, and when I try typing text on a photograph, I get the message: Something prevented the text engine from initializing.
Please help.

Hi LydiaNel,
Sorry you are facing issues in Photoshop CS6, if you are getting error when opening documents that have text in them it could be an issue with the fonts as well.
I would suggest you to try the steps mentioned here: Troubleshoot fonts issues in Adobe Photoshop CC, 2015, 2014, CS6, CS5 and let us know if it helps or not.
Thanks

Good day Tanuj
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I have tried the first suggestions on the linked page, but they did not
solve the problem.
I have attached a screen shot of my File Explorer. I can not locate the CT
Font Cache folder mentioned. I use Windows 10.
Would appreciate further assistance.
Many thanks
Lydia

I have the same problem as Lydia. I too have Windows 10 and Photoshop CS6. My every effort has been useless. I changed the text from Eastern to Middle Eastern, I deleted the fonts cache (I have located it), I turned off the fonts preview. How can I do?
Many thanks
Ada

This method worked for me as well. And it was super easy vs. clearing caches or changing folder names. Thanks!

This did not work for me, either. Last week my cs6 suddenly went into "trial mode" and tech support said to uninstall/reinstall. Now the text tool won't work. What's worse, Adobe tech support simply told me to come here to the forums and find the solution myself. I believe this is a scheme to get me to upgrade to a subscription (which I'm not going to do.) I am thoroughly irritated.
