Text tool

Photoshop 2024. I wrote a text and now I want to change some words but the tool doesn't let me. It opens a new layer every time I try.

Select the text layer in the Layers panel, then click the text with the text tool.

Are you working with a Layered PSD file?

Can you select the Type Layer?  See screenshot.

In a flattened image, there is no Type Layer to select.

I have the same issue. In the layers panel it does not indicate text l
