I receive photos from a photographer and when I open their files in Photoshop2021 the I receive this message.

The embedded ICC profile cannot be used because the ICC profile version is not supported.  Ignoring the profile.

I have my color settings synchronized with my applications

When I open the image I am then the Profile

I then save the image. Wanted to check with the group in any issues you see.

Yes, check with the photographer. If these are out-of-camera-jpegs, many camera manufacturers have their own custom varieties of sRGB or Adobe RGB, and they may not be strictly written to icc spec.

If they come from ACR/Lightroom, it's really odd and I can't explain it.

And if it is some version os sRGB assigning Adobe RGB would be a problematic choice.

Have you checked with the photographer what Color Space they use and which the version the ICC-profile is?
