The Graphics Processor Compatibility Check in Photoshop is incorrect about DirectX compatibility

The Graphics Processor Compatibility Check in Photoshop incorrectly states that my GPU does not support DirectX 12.  This began after the latest Photoshop update to 24.5.0.  I have checked the specs on my video card from the manufacturer's website and they state that my card does support DirectX 12.  This is a very minor inconvenience as I could elect to have this pop-up go away permanently.  However, I would like Photoshop to point out errors as it should.

@DoctorCarlo the GeForce 650 Ti does not have full DirectX 12 support, the feature level of that GPU is only 11, Photoshop requires a GPU with a feature level of 12 and above

What make and model is your graphics card?

Are you using a laptop with both built-in intergrated graphics and the graphics card in question?

It may not necessarily be wrong.

DirectX 12 is a programming interface. Your GPU is able to "speak the language" of DirectX 12, hence it claims to support DirectX 12. The problem may be that it cannot physically execute all the required functions specified in DX12. A lot of new GPU-dependent functionality has been added in recent Photoshop releases, and hence new calls to the GPU.

That's what a message like e.g. "feature level 11.2" means.

But as Jeff says, we need to know which GPU. Until then, this is not a bug, and the thread should be moved from "Bugs" to "Discussions".

Post moved to discussions, pending confirmation of the exact GPU in question.

My GPU is NVIDIA GeFOrce GTX 770 and after running the dxdiag command, it says

@Bulfern if you click on the display tab in DxDiag it will show you the feature level

The GTX 770 only has a feature level of 11.0, so it's not a bug in Photoshop

I experienced this same thing a while ago. It turns out that there are two
performance ratings for video cards that are reported as DirectX ratings.
Unfortunately, I cannot recall what these levels were called; but the gist
was this: The DirectX rating of the GPU itself can be 11 while the card can
be rated 12 and this is what Photoshop is indicating.

So there isn't a bug. It's just this weird rating system on video cards.
I would love to give you more information but all I can advise is to go to
the card's manufacturer's website and look carefully at the specs that
they'll display. You should find two entries about DirectX. I did that
until I found a card on eBay that was rated 12 on both entries.

I wish that I could be of more help.

This was answered further up.

DirectX version is a set of APIs, application programming interfaces. That's software and programming.

DirectX Feature Level is what the card can actually do, its physical capabilities. That's hardware.

In any case, the GT 650 was released in 2012, which is eleven years ago. It's very old by now.
