The option to change Rectangle tool to other shapes is gone

I can't right click on the Rectangle Tool to change it into a Line shape for example.

The little arrow (that reveals that there are options) is gone.

What has happened?

It seems Photoshop has a setting where you can customize all the tools, including which ones to group. The Rectangle Tool had become a single item (not grouped), and all the shapes were hidden. I selected "Restore Defaults" and all works again 🙂

That was going to be my next suggestion, start restoring tool settings/defaults.

If you press Shift+U, does the tool change?

yes, but it changed tool group (it wasn't hidden in the Rectangle shape's group). However, I found the solution (see separate post). Thanks for the feedback!

Click and hold

Unfortunately that doesn't work either. Long (left button) click is the same as right click, and none of them works. The option is gone - which the missing small arrow on the lower right side of Rectangle Tool shows.
