There was an error opening your printer

I'm at my wits end. Something that does not seem to be addressed in the couple years this issue has been around… Something MANY others, including myself, have been experiencing…
Unable to print in PS. When we go to print, PS says that a printer has not been selected, and more specifically, "There was an error opening your printer". Well, that’s [cursing removed]. Printing works fine in all the other Adobe, MS, et al, applications. Just not PS. My situation is on Win10 1909, PSCC 2020. Attempting to print to HP, EPSON, and other printers.
Everything worked fine until PSCC 2019, thereabouts.
In Googling the issue, there has been a plethora of suggestions; Delete settings PSP file, Modify the registry to include MAX memory, holding Spacebar on Print to reset preferences, updating/verifying a current printer driver, changing default printer, uninstalling Windows updates, etc…
Some of those suggestions seem to fix some folks, but there are many others, like myself, where none of those “fixes” do anything other than take up your valuable time jerking around with it.
Has anyone heard of this issue, and/or have there been any other suggestions to FIX the issue?
Right now my only workaround is to save the file to a PDF or high res JPG and print from another app. PITA!

Correct answer NB, colourmanagement

I know this thread is over a year old. but I am now have this exact problem but on my iMac trying to print from Photoshop ver 25.3.1.  I have a ton of other stuff I need to work on right now and don;t have time to mess around for hours googling a fix.  So, if anyone can give me a quick fix for this it would be greatly appreciated.

PRINT:

IF it’s a MAC, reset printing system:
On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners
Press and hold the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears.
After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty.
Reinstall the print driver, only from the manufacturer, not Apple.

You may like to re-install the printer drivers to check if that makes a difference?

Simple reset: hold the space bar when you open the print window. It resets the print dialogs

Try these, in this order:

Step 1. With Photoshop closed, make sure a default printer is set in Windows settings

Step 2. Open Photoshop and create a new document

Step 3. Hold the spacebar down and click on File Print.

 

Select a printer and try printing.

If that works and the problem occurs in an existing document - carry out step 2 with that document open

 

If you still get nowhere - please go to Photoshop's Help >System info and press copy. Then paste the info here.

I hate to write this you may need to format your disk and do a clean install of all your software.  You machine may be infected.


FYI...Does not seem to be virus related.

I backup my OS by mirroring the HD. Installed an older mirror that had an older PS (PSCC 2018) installed, That PS was able to print with no problem.

When I installed the current PSCC, the problem returned. It's definitely something with PS.

In the Print dialog can you select a printer or print to a pdf.  I have never had a problems selection mt network Epson printer or canon printer or print to a PDF file? On windows 10  in many photoshop versions including current PS 2020. Also on the PC whet the Printers are attached via USB I can print using the local printer.

Make sure windows printers are installed. I do not set a default printer. I let Windows do its thing.  I select the printer I want to use in Photoshop's print dialog.
