Thumbnail visible picture all black.

For the last few weeks or so, every time I load a picture in PS, I can see the thumbnail clearly but the image to work on is just a black screen (see attachment)

What can I do to fix it?

I've updated it to the latest version—still a problem.

HELP?

Try to check (enable) Deactivate Native Canvas in Preferences > Technology Previews. Restart Photoshop.

If that does not help try to uncheck Use Graphic Processor in Preferences > Performance. If unchecking Use Graphic Processor works then you have problem with GPU, try to update drivers.

Hi @moldred

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
