Hi, i created a tiff file with several layers, size is around 2,5 GB yet PS opens it as just one layer of around 100MB It looks like the data is there because i can see the size of 2,5GB. What am I missing here?

Can you post a link to the TIFF file and I'll try it here. It does sound like it may be corrupt.

Thanks for supplying the file.

I can only open it with one layer here also, although like you said the file size of over 2GB would seem to indicate that it could be multilayered. Resaving the single layer as a new TIF saves at only 105MB.

I tried an older version of Photoshop but got the same result - a single file only.

Why are you using tiff, is someone possibly with outdated pre-millennium specs asking you to use that file format?

You may have flattened during saving

Good news that radio button is only available when you use save a copy, so check your drive) or the cloud drive as Adobe added this option which has been confusing people)  for the original file with similar name

because LR cloud does not support PSB but it does support TIFF as i understand. And I did not save it as one layer as the size shows and i checked it:  TIFF files before and after with the same way of saving are fine

What kind of layer? An ordinary pixel layer or a smart object? If the latter, double click to open it.

How did you open it? If from Lightroom you have teh choice of opening the original layered file or a flattened copy with Lightroom's edits/adjustments applied.

Finally you may have a corrupt file and Photoshop has managed to open the flattened layer used for generating thumbnails etc.

Without further info it is impossible to tell which of those above might apply

it opens as just one pixel layer, not a smart object. Opening from LR as original gives the same result as opening the file directly from the folder. I did not save it as one layer as the size shows.
