Tool changes to previous automatically

New Here ,
Sep 11, 2017 Sep 11, 2017

Dear all.

I have this annoying issue  with photoshop since cs6.

I alway work using keyboard shortcuts and when I select a tool, for example the selection tool "M", and I cancel a portion of layer with canc/delete key, automatically photoshop turn back on the previously used tool. It happens 8 times out of 10.

I heard many people had this issue with cs6 blaming the ram but I'm using the latest cc version and I'm running 16gb of ram.

The issue is pretty annoying cause is slowing down my working flow and it forces me to click the tool with the mouse everytime.

Is there any possible fix to this problem that you may know?

Thank you

Hello, it is not a bug, but a feature.

That is called spring-loaded tool, it allows you to temporarily switch to a given tool, use it, and return to the previous tool.

For instance: you use the brush tool, then hold Z, click to zoom, release the Z key and you get the Brush tool you had before.

You need to click quickly to switch tool permanently.

[edit] You can now adjust the behavior of this function in Preferences/Tools.

So often people try to say something isn't an issue... this is absolutely a bug. It may be a "feature" but more often than not, it doesnt work correctly. I've lost count how many times I use a keyboard shortcut only for it to revert back to the previous tool repeatedly. As suggested by another user (c.pfaffenbichler), I ultimately ended up disabling/unchecking the Spring-Loaded Tool box/setting in the Tools Preferences in Photoshop and so far it has taken care of the problem of this "feature" smh

Please stop changing core features and forcing me to figure out what the issue is. The font tool no longer works any more as expected. This comment is 2017...Somehow this bug was forced on me. It's not a feature, it's a bug when it functions as a pest and distracts me from my task. I hope adobe fails the day will come when ai replaces you and the frustration you cause. I just want to use the tool I'm familiar with not test your useless features out. It's hard enough to focus and forcing me to test your new dev out is only a distraction. I have a hard enough time trying to focus now Adobe is against me. If you're a developer at Adobe just stop working on photoshop. It doesn't need more useless features.

Photoshop does not feature a »Font Tool« so could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible to illustrate what you are complaining about?

And please mind your manners.
