I quitted photoshop and stop drawing months ago, almost a whole year. I came back  thinking that maybe this problem as been finally solve but it's still there unfortunately

Yes even if it's been years I have this same problem that's block me to draw I can't motivate me to drop photoshop for good and go to another software. It's like a toxic ex, I cling to when it was working well and all the good memories I have with it lol

Is the problem that when you press a single-key shortcut for a tool, it goes to another tool? If so, the setting you want to change is to enable Use Shift Key for Tool Switch. That will not switch tools unless you press the Shift key, so for example, every time you press C it will always be the Crop tool.

But if the problem is that the tool switches when you hold down (not just tap) a key, then the problem is spring-loaded keyboard shortcuts.

Are you talking about the different tool presets in the brush presets panel?

The trick is to turn on Aditional Preset Info from the  panel's flyout menu, so you can see what tool is associated with each preset.  Alternatively, hold down the Cmd key when you select a preset to Force Photoshop to not change the tool you are using.  Is that what's going on for you?

Are you using spring-loaded tool shortcuts? You can turn them off in Preferences - Tools

Hey, @NovaGood. I'll branch this out as a new conversation; I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Are you using Photoshop with mouse+keyboard input set-up or any other input devices?

Try this in Photoshop:

- Press CTRL/CMD + K to open Preferences/Settings > Tools.

- Disable Spring-loaded Tool Shortcuts.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
