In photoshop how to get, visually, the total ink coverage value, like to in "acrobat/print productions/output preview/total area coverage" Or would there be a plugin for this specific function?

Use the Info panel, set to Total Ink:

TAC is built into CMYK profiles, so if it's an RGB file, the conversion will in any case prevent going over.
