I have a G4 Laptop that has Photoshop CS 8 on it and have now acquired a MacBook Pro laptop.....can I take the CS from the older laptop and install it on the newer laptop?  If so.....how?????

If you mean CS (version 8) and you say it ran on your old G4 (Motorola) based Mac, you cannot install it on an Intel based Mac.

Photoshop support for Intel began with CS3, and Motorola support was dropped in CS5.

Photoshop system requirements  The CS series is no longer sold and likely would not run properly on the new MacOS.

Best bet if you still need  Photoshop is Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan | Professional photo editing software

Older versions of Photoshop system requirements would be Adobe's official reference.

    Hi

I've moved your post to the Photoshop forum.

There was no CS8 - CS6 was the last CS version. Can you confirm what you have?

Can you also confirm which MAC OS you are using?

I don't use a MAC but that information will help those that do give advice on installation

    Thanks Dave.

Steve Jobs brought some radical changes upon his return to Apple. First to go was the "beige box" look for the rounded curves and jellybean colors of the "iMac" (internet Mac). Next he removed the 3.5 in floppy drives for the higher-capacity 100 MB built in zip drives. He standardized the connectors and adding USB and also tried Firewire. It was around 2005 he ditched Motorola for Intel.

Windows PCs can run old Windows software, but seems Jobs hated having MacOS run older out of production software. 32 bit apps are going be phased out beginning with MacOS 10.14
