Transform layer edges or borders sometimes showing, but often not

I'm using Photoshop 23.1.0 on PC, but also on MAC. On both of the systems, the transform layer edges or borders seems bugged. Firstly, they don't appear at all when I press CTRL or APPLE + T, resulting in a lot of confusion and productivity loss for me. "Show Extras" of course is on and also the "Show transform options" under the move tool. When I start moving the layer, surprise, only THEN the transform borders of the layer appear. Still, they often dissapear afterwards... And they sometimes stay visible even though they should not (when switching from the transform mode to another mode, for example). I tried disabling the GPU in the performance options, but the behaviour persists. Going from legacy transform options to the newer options does nothing as well. It really looks like there is a simple program glitch. Have anyone else experienced that? Anyone found a way to go around this annoying mess?

I do a lot of transforming myself using Ctrl + T (on Windows), but I haven't come across this.

 

On both platforms, have you ensured you have the latest GPU drivers? Try also using the "Deactivate Native Canvas" option under Preferences > Technology Previews. (Be sure to restart.)

I sometimes seem to get weird patterns on my edges which is sometimes remedied by clsoing and reopening the file. I'm also wondering why cropping now adds a layer to the file when it didn't in earlier versions of Photohope. Does this serve any practicle purpose and can it be avoided?

When you say, "adds a layer," Photoshop actually adds a layer in the Layers panel? Can we see a screen capture of this?

You can see in the bottom cropped imag that a layer appeared, even after I had clicked on "Deactivate Native Canvas" and restarted my Mac.
