Transparency (in English) and Opacity are frequently used interchangeably, but there is a difference.

"In digital photography, transparency is the functionality that supports transparent areas in an image or image layer. Certain image formats do not support transparency. Opacity is the extent to which something blocks light. You can change the opacity of layers, filters, and effects so that more (or less) of the underlying image shows through."

Transparency  in 2D design is simply the quality of being able to see through (or partially see through) one or more layers in an artwork. Like texture, transparency can be real or it can be implied or suggested. Opacity is a similar term but refers to the  inability to see through a layer. A window with the curtains drawn is opaque whereas a window with the curtains open is less opaque (completely transparent).

Apologies for taking a week to answer.
