Trouble aligning shape layers in 3D

I'm having a problem while working in 3D. I want to create an object to use later in Dimension, which is comprised of these 2 layers. When I merge the 2 layers, it's obviously misaligned:

I wanted to try pivoting the camera and moving the individual shapes, but I can't find where to do that. I've seen some videos where there is a secondary view as well, but after selecting that view, I don't see the extra window.

Any ideas on what to do?

3D has been discontinued within Photoshop. Any chance you could build your 3D assets in another program?
