Trouble creating 3D text

Trying to create 3D text - I create a new text layer - make it the active layer then open the 3D window - but everythingin the window is grayed out - what step am I missing?

Posted yeaterday but don't see my post - so trying again

Want to create 3D text - I create a text layer with the desired text - make that my active layer then open th 3D window - but everything is grayed out - so I am missing something.  I looked through help and seem to be OK - suggestions are appreciated

Hi

Is your document in RGB colour mode? 3D is not available in CMYK, Grayscale or Indexed color

I was sure it was RGB but was going to check to be sure - and now it is working fine - I have no idea why - but thank you for responding
