try to save preset always a wrong folder,how can i fix it?

hi

i'm running photoshop cc 2017 & 2015 under windows 7 64bit

when i try to save a preset like a curve preset , a filter preset , i got always the windows dialog with always these folder

C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017\Presets\Keyboard Shortcuts

is there a fix ?

i have tried to reset the preferences ,run photoshop alt+ctrl+shift , nothing it points always on the wrong folder

hi

i found how can i fix it , delete MachinePrefs.psp file

but is it dangerous deleting this file?

according to Dangerous deletion events Photoshop CC - MachinePrefs.psp

It seem to me that  every version of Photoshop you install on your system. That when a windows user uses a version of Photoshop that that version of Photoshop creates a set of preferences for the user ID so ever user can have there own set of preferences for each Photoshop version they use.   However Photoshop also seems to create a Place where users Id can save Presets for each version of Photoshop.  Adobe releases a new version of Photoshop every year and a half and Adobe only support the latest version.  For me it does not make sense to save presets for each version of Photoshop. The same is true for Photoshop add-ons you create and the third party plug-in you add.  Adobe does not migrate  third Party Add-ons and I'm  not sure that Adobe will migrate all your saved presets.

I have been using Adobe Photoshop for more than 20 years.    Years ago I found to only way I could cope with Adobe Photoshop versions was to Manage my Add-ons and Preset myself.  I do not use the  Preset folder tree that Adobe sets up for my user ID for ever version of Photoshop that is used.  Adobe may sets some thing in there.  BUT When it comes to Action, Scripts, Plug-ins, Brushes, Patterns, Styles etc.   All are kept my own locations.  I save, Load, Install add on  where I know they are.  I will add Path to Adobe Photoshop versions  for Plug-ins and Scripts. I can not cope with all of Adobe Changes and bugs any other way.  I find having only one version of Photoshop installed is risky you need backup.

Photoshop is evolving more and more into a web development tool unfortunately along the way things that worked get broken. Keep old version of Photoshop installed.

ok , but everythime i try to save a preset ,windows asks me where should i save  , and the path is always wrong

if i delete MachinePrefs.psp ,while photoshop is closed , and start photoshop this fix everything

when i try to save a preset windows finds the right path

my question is : is safe to delete MachinePrefs.psp ?

there is an user that said that deleting the file MachinePrefs.psp ,after photoshop will  delete system files (operation system)

Everything you read is not always correct.  If you worried make some test.  You also state the  Photoshop always displays the wrong path.   Photoshop normally displays Adobe default however there are also two dialog one for save and one for load.  I forget it may be the load one  that If you change it that will be remembered and even displayed when you use the saved dialog.  You may see what you consider the correct path displayed for both Save and Load.   You showed Smart Sharpen Presets  showing user id presets keyboard shortcuts folder.  The did not happen on my machine.  It show an Adobe user id folder I would not want to use.  So I save and loaded preset to/from I folder I may want to use.   Now when I do a Smart Sharpen Preset save or load this this what I see.

So if you delete a reference file you may loose some setting toy made the Photoshop is remembering for you.

    You may loose some setting you made however its not dangerous.  In face you can close Photoshop and delete the whole tree:

    "C:\Users\(your User Id)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC(version)\"

    When you start that Photoshop version the next time Photoshop will create a new tree for your user ID with Adobe defaults for the version of Photoshop. A super reset preferences  a reset Photoshop version.
