Trying to cross fade between two photos on two layers

New Here ,
Dec 15, 2021 Dec 15, 2021

Must be easy but I can't find it I want to stack two images in different layers Then alter opacity in a manner like the gradient tool does color so that bottom image is completely visible on right of screen and top image is visible on left. Between the sides is a gentle blend of opacity with images being equally visible at 50% opacity each in center of screen in center of screen

  • Create a layer mask on the top layer
  • Set your swatches to the defaults of B&W by pressing "D"
  • Select the Gradient tool "G"
  • In the options a bar, choose linear gradient with foreground to background for the colors
  • Paint a gradient horizontally on the mask — use Shift to keep it straight
Play with the gradient if you don't like it the first time

Show a screenshot if you need more help.
