Turn over-layer into a shape

I have this drawing i made on a map, I link it to the map as overlay by alt

On the left i made the layer on the main map, When I de-link it it became like this
I want every de-linking it from the map to become same as linked one how?

You clipped the layer to the layer below with an Alt+click.    You link layers by targeting the layers you want linked then click the link icon in the bottom of the layers palette. A shape layer is basically a fill layer fill is either empty or  solid color or  Gradient or pattern. That layer has a vector layer mask that defines the shape.  That Path can also be stroked.   You need to create the vector path for the shape you want.

What you need to do is create the Path for your shape and add a solid fill layer.
