I am trying to turn a path i have created in photoshop into a dotted line but cannot see how - help.

Also, when I create a line using the path it is normally pixelated - how do i get around this issue and have a nice smooth line?

Thanks

Things are pixelated when you create the thing with to few pixels and you need to print using large pixels the get the print size you need.  If you want to print smooth sharp dotted or dash lines creat the document as a high resolution document with the canvas size you need.   Like for a print page 8.5" by 11" atr 300dpi would be good.  The document woul be 2,550px by  3,300.  View actual pixels to judge quality of your lines.

Select the Path and click the Shape button on the Options bar to convert the path to a Shape Layer:

Then select the path with the Selection tool (the black arrow) and you will have access to the path formatting controls on the Options bar. Note that the path is vector so it isn't constrained by the resolution of the file, unless you rasterize it. Monitors display in pixels so anything will look pixelated when you zoom in, including vector objects.
