Type - can't place it

I'm making a cd case insert. I have 3 layers in Photoshop - Background, photo, and type. When I try to put in the type

I press the type tool (horizontal) but when I type on keyboard something else enters. Looks like several designs that

I have no idea what it is. How can I put my desired type in the type layer?

@evjamie do you have this option enabled in preferences, if so disable it
