When I try to use Photoshop’s generative features I get an error that says:
"This feature is currently not available." The feature is blocked even though I have an active paid subscription.
Version of the app
Photoshop 2025 (official release)
Adobe Photoshop Version: 26.10.0 20250811.r.7 595d3a6 x64 (final, Release)
Platform and OS version
Windows 11
GPU and driver
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 1070
Driver: latest available driver (please let me know if you need the exact driver version)
Steps to reproduce
Open Photoshop 2025.
Attempt to use Generative Fill, Generative Expand, or Generative Replace.
Observe the banner at the top of the app that says "This feature is currently not available."
Expected result
Generative features UI appears and I can run generative operations.
Actual result
A banner appears and generative features are blocked.
What I tried (troubleshooting performed)
• Verified active paid subscription and available generative credits.
• Confirmed Photoshop 2025 official release, not a beta.
• No VPN in use.
• Checked hosts file for Adobe blocks; none found.
• Allowed Photoshop.exe and Creative Cloud.exe in Windows Defender Firewall.
• Ran ipconfig /flushdns, netsh winsock reset, and netsh int ip reset.
• Confirmed no proxy configured in Internet Options.
• Signed out of Creative Cloud and signed back in.
• Full Adobe uninstall, ran Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, removed leftover Adobe folders, and reinstalled.
• Restored TEMP and TMP environment variables to default locations.
• Created a new local Windows user to test.
• Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow.
• Updated GPU drivers and toggled Use Graphics Processor in Photoshop.
• Restarted the system after each major change.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Has this issue been resolved? I have exactly the same issue (Photoshop2026 v.27.0). Was on help desk with Adobe yesterday - without success. Has someone a solution to this issue?

Hey, @martin_6301. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I reviewed the account you used to log in, and I found an active subscription.
Does this happen with specific images or subjects? You can try using Photoshop Web (https://adobe.ly/3WkhVFm) on an alternate device & internet network to rule out that it is a network issue.
Thanks!

it happens on an image for the Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book (chapter 1) - see attached. - the problem is not yet solved. Internet works, ie I am conntected. One of your colleagues tested the generatibe AI in Adobe Firefly and it worked. I like it to work in the software I am paying for every month - thank you for your continued support.

Thanks for sharing the updates, Martin! If Firefly on the web works, you'll need to troubleshoot the network access on your machine.
Is this a personal machine, or is it managed by a centralized IT team? Do you have a VPN, Browser Plugin, or Antivirus that can control the temporary files or how your computer connects to the Internet? If yes, try to disable any such programs and plugins.
Thanks!

Thank you Sameer. It is a personal computer and I did disable for a short period of time my anti-virus software (Norton, Microsoft Defender), but had the same result. I do have a VPN provider but it was not activated at the time I am trying to do the generative fill in Photoshop.

Here is an interesting (and weird) observation from my trying:
Within Photoshop, while all virus protections were activated, I did an "Edit-Generate Image" - and it worked (it created a new AI-generated image in a new layer).
I de-selected this new layer with the AI-generaed image (but did not delete it) and re-did on my main layer (Arch) the rectangle-Generative Fill (either via Edit-Generative Fill or by clicking on the "Generative Fill" on the Contextual Task Bar.) And it worked!
However, when I deleted this new layer with my Generated Image, the "Generative Fill" function again was not working ("This Feature is currently not available").
Do you have an explanation for this? There seems to be a bug in the program - or?
Thanks,
Martin

Hey, @martin_6301. Thanks for the continuous updates. If it isn't intermittent and is repeatable, could you record a detailed video of this issue and share it with us?
Thanks!
