UNABLE USING LAYER STYLES ON LAYERS

I AM TRYING TO USE LAYER STYLES ON MY LAYERS BUT THAT MAKES NO CHANGE.

SECONDLY , A YELLOW TTRIANGLE IS APPEARING ON SOME OF THE TEXT LAYERS. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? AND PLEASE HELP ME FIND OUT WHY I CANT APPLY LAYERS STYLES TO MY LAYERS?
