Undo-Redo Commands & History Panel Options

I recently had to Reset Preferences in Photoshop v25.12.0 to fix an unrelated problem.  Running OSX v14.7 on an Apple Mac. Before Resetting Prefs, I used to be able to toggle back & forth between actions simply using Command-Z.  That no longer works, I have to use Command-Shift-Z, which I find cumbersome.  I could not find anything in Settings to change this.  Suggestions welcome.

Secondly, a new problem with the History Panel.  When I Open History Options and check “Show New Snapshot Dialog by Default”, this function does not work, I do not get a New Snapshot Dialog.

If you check the menu (Edit > Undo and Edit > Redo), do they show these different keyboard shortcuts? Or just one (Cmd+Z)

Above is a screen shot of the Edit Menu where you can see both Undo & Redo. Is there any way to remove the Redo and use only Command Z for both Undo & Redo? That is the set up on my laptop (Powerbook) running the same version of PS as on my Mac Pro.

Success! Checking Use Legacy Undo Shortcuts works perfectly. Thanks very much.

The second problem persists in that the History Options does not allow me to create a new dialog box when creating a new History log.

Thanks Lumigraphics for the fix to my Undo Command problem.  I still have not found a fix for the second problem, with the History Options panel.  Even when checked, "Show New Snapshot Dialog by Default", does not work  I have Reset Preferences three times; still not working.  Any suggestions are welcome!
